Sonically the album is their signature style, uniquely merging the organic with the electronic, an electronic-pop record with a heart. Loved the first album and this 2nd is a real belter, better even than the first? Andrew Bird, Matthew Perryman Jones, Peter Bradley Adams, Athlete, Aqualung, Anberlin and so on...nice sound w/shades of real depth and soulfulness.

Worth a listen...and ALL the songs are easy on the mind/soul!

I dislike making comparisons too much but this record is as good as TBOWYB, though slightly less.

Track durations are not printed on the release.

until I saw a live performance at the end of a Graham Norton show. From the bombastic swell of "Make Them Gold" to the reflective beauty of "Afterglow", there is something for everyone to enjoy here.

I got the first Chvrches album and loved it. Doesn't disappoint - every track is a gem (the title track my favourite). Chvrches are a Scottish electronic band, formed in 2011. Looking back at 2013's The Bones of What You Believe came out with gorgeous retro songs, heavily steeped in 80's synth. Retro pop couldn't have been done better, yet, there's something about 2015's Every Open Eye that surpasses it. It is so well produced with highly mid 80s influenced (think Erasure et al) sensationally uplifting and quality - but not, thankfully, cheesy - pop songs. Every Open Eye follows Chvrches debut album, The Bones of What We Believe (over 185K units sold). Well worth a listen and buy. Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 26, 2016 Big fan of the one sound (and possibly song) that Chvrches have.Updated pop/synth - wonderful lyrics and the voices are just sublime Music and vocals catchy & consistent, perhaps a bit repetitive.

In a word, if you aren't absolutely smitten with Lauren Mayberry and Co. (Martin Doherty and Iain Cook) and their infectious brand of power synth-pop after listening to this album, you might be dead inside. I discovered Chvrches purely by accident whilst out shopping.
